Borrowing Information for Staff

The library has a collection of texts, recommended resources, and other materials, to support study and teaching at SAE and Qantm. Students and staff are welcome to browse, borrow materials, and use the library as a quiet study space.


  • Students must present an ID card to borrow
  • 8 items may be borrowed by students at one time. There is a limit of 2 restricted loan items at one time
  • Certain books and readings, which are in heavy demand, will be placed on short loan or for in house use only.
  • Equipment for loan may include scanners, game consoles, light boxes, cameras and camera accessories. Check the loan period when you borrow

Short Loan (Equipment, High demand items) 2 day


Items from the General Collection can be renewed three times as long as there is not a hold (reservation) on the item. One week loan Items can be renewed once.

Holds (Reservations)

Holds can be placed on items which are out on loan. Locate the item in "One Search" and sign in to request it or contact library staff.

Fines and Penalties

To avoid fines renew your loans before the due date. Students incur fines for overdue items at the following rates:

  • General collection items - $1 per day
  • Other items - $2 per day

Students with outstanding fines may have studio time and access to other practical resources restricted. If fines remain outstanding following course completion, exam results, certificates and other awards will not be issued.

Students will be charged, at current retail prices plus a $30 fine, for any items that remain outstanding from the library for more than three weeks.
